KILTED DUCK SCOTTISH TRIALS

This will be a fun trail ride for motorcycle riders of all skill levels. This is not a race, you will ride the course at your own pace. The only time that speed matters is at the special tests. The special tests are technical sections of trail, hillclimbs, obstacle courses or motocross. You will be timed riding through each special test. We will also be watching you and keeping track of all your errors. Each error will result in a penalty added to your time for that special test. Speed and accuracy are important at the tests. Penalties will be assessed as follows:

Dab – Every time a foot touches the ground or pushes off of something other than the motorcycle. 5 second penalty.

Ribbon violation – Every time a ribbon is hit or crossed. 5 second penalty.

Crash –10 point penalty.

Stalled engine –10 point penalty.

If you choose to not ride a special test or are unable to finish it, then you will be given a score equal to the worst score earned in your class for that test plus 30 points. You will be allowed to pre-walk the special tests as you come to them on the course, but will not be allowed to pre-ride them. You only have one shot at each test, no “do-overs”.

There are three special tests on each loop. Your score for the event will be the total of all special test times (3 for Novices, 6 for Experts) and penalties. The lowest scores win.

The special tests on Loop 2 are a little more challenging than Loop 1. Watch your time in the pits if you are riding the Expert class. If you are signed up for the Expert class but don’t make it back out in time to ride Loop 2, let the folks at scoring know and we will switch you to the Novice class so that you are eligible for awards.

If you or your motorcycle break down or run out of gas, please stay on the course where our sweep riders can find and help you.

We hope to get awards out by 3:30 p.m. this afternoon.
